PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) contains various growth factors that stimulate healing and regeneration of the body’s soft tissues, i.e., muscles, tendons, ligaments,  and joints.

This treatment has been used since the 1990s in maxilla-facial and plastic surgery. PRP uses a portion of the patients’ own blood, which is then centrifuged to activate the platelets. These platelets are injected into the abnormal tissue, releasing growth factors that recruit and increase the proliferation of reparative cells.

If you are experiencing maladies in, but not limited to, knee, hip, shoulder, wrist, elbow, or ankle, you may be a candidate for PRP.

Vitamin B-12

Benefits Include:

Increase Energy Levels

Vitamin B12 is needed to convert carbohydrates (carbs) into useable glucose in the body. Glucose from high carb foods is used as a form of energy, which is why individuals with vitamin B12 deficiencies often experience fatigue.

Aids in Digestion & Weight Loss

Vitamin B12 helps to foster healthy bacteria within the gut environment. It aids in eliminating harmful bacteria thus preventing digestive disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease and Candida.

Prevents Memory Loss

Because of its role in nerve health neurotransmitter signaling, vitamin B12 benefits cognitive function and is used to lower the risk of neurodegenerative disease including Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia

Improves Sleep

Vitamin B12 is linked to the production of melatonin which controls our circadian rhythms (the bodily function that regulate sleep patterns). With an increase in Melatonin, we are able to improve our sleep.

Reduce Severity of Headaches/Migraines

Vitamin B12 plays an important role in boosting energy production inside nerve cells helping reduce the amount and severity of headaches/migraines.

Reduce Stress and Depression

Vitamin B12, is needed as a major determinate of one-carbon metabolism, which produces a compound called SAM. SAM is crucial for Dealing with stress, and mood regulation.

Needed for Healthy Skin & Hair

Vitamin B12 plays a major role in cell reproduction making it essential for healthy skin, hair and nails. Vitamin B12 benefits skin by reducing redness, dryness, inflammation, and acne blemishes. It helps nails to become strong and reduces hair breakage.

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy research is a fast growing treatment for a wide range of injuries, diseases, and many health-related problems. It is a method which involves the use of stem cells to repair damaged ligaments, reduce pain and provide overall joint stabilization. Regenerative therapy deals with not only the replacement or regeneration of tissue but […]

Chiropractic Care

The primary focus of chiropractic is simply to adjust the spine and remove those things which interfere with the body’s natural healing ability.

Spinal adjustments to correct subluxations are what make chiropractic professionals unique in comparison with any other type of health care professional. The term “adjustment” refers to the specific force chiropractors apply to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally.

The objective of the chiropractic adjustment is to reduce the subluxation, which results in an increased range of motion that reduces nerve irritability, muscle spasms, pain and improves overall function. The chiropractic adjustment is a quick thrust applied to a vertebra for the purpose of correcting both its position and movement. Adjustments are often accompanied by an audible release of gas in the spinal joints that sounds like a “crack.” The sound sometimes surprises people the first time they get adjusted, but the sensation is usually relieving. Occasionally, minor discomfort is experienced, especially if the surrounding muscles are in spasm or the person tenses up during the chiropractic procedure. There are times when the audible “cracking” does not occur. This is often due to either significant muscle tightness or the person having a hard time relaxing during their adjustments. Some adjusting techniques are designed to move the spine in a way that does not produce the audible sound at all. Chiropractic care is so much more than simply a means of relieving pain.

Ultimately, the goal of an adjustment is to restore the body to its natural state of optimal health. In order to accomplish this, chiropractors can use and recommend a variety of natural healing methods, including adjustments, massage, trigger point therapy, nutrition, exercise rehabilitation, and counseling on lifestyle issues that impact your health. The primary focus is simply to remove those things which interfere with the body’s natural normal healing ability. The adjustment of the spine is the primary objective of a chiropractor. There are some chiropractors who also adjust the extremities and use other forms of physiological therapeutics including the use of electrical stimulation, ultrasound, traction, neuromuscular re-education, and a variety of manual therapies.

Increasingly, chiropractors’ offices are becoming full-service wellness centers providing a variety of wellness services. A new trend that chiropractic wellness centers offer is wellness coaching. Some programs offer coaching at the wellness center, while others offer wellness coaching via telephone, email, or online instant messenger in an effort to make it more convenient. Chiropractic wellness centers may offer seminars in a variety of subjects such as spinal alignment, improved posture, and ergonomics, as well as programs on weight management, relaxation, smoking cessation, nutrition, and exercise. Some even offer pre- and post-natal healthy baby programs. The increasing number of chiropractic centers providing extensive wellness programs makes it convenient and affordable for just about anyone to adopt a wellness lifestyle. Chiropractors understand that within each of us is an innate wisdom or healthy energy that will express itself as perfect health and well-being if we allow it to. Therefore, the focus of chiropractic care is to remove any physiological blocks to the proper expression of the body’s innate wisdom. Once these interferences are reduced, improved health is the natural consequence. Who wouldn’t want that?

Spinal Decompression

Newest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

In the past, a patient suffering from disc problems usually was given pain medications, instructed to refrain from physical activities, referred for physical therapy, and when they weren’t progressing they were sent for spinal surgery. Conservative chiropractic care proved very helpful in many cases, yet there have been some cases when surgery seemed to be the only other option… until now.

Today, you don’t have to live with that pain anymore. Thanks to the concerted efforts of a team of top physicians and medical engineers, spinal decompression was developed to effectively treat lower back pain and sciatica resulting from herniated or deteriorated discs. Spinal decompression not only significantly reduces back pain in many patients but also enables the majority of patients to return to more active lifestyles.

Does Spinal Decompression Really Work?

Spinal decompression has been proven effective in relieving the pain associated with bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, and even relapse or failed back surgery. Since its release, clinical studies have revealed an amazing success rate in treating lumbar disc related problems with Spinal decompression.

How Does It Work?

Spinal decompression uses state of the art technology to apply a distraction force to relieve nerve compression often associated with low back pain and sciatica.

Who Is It For?

For those struggling with low back pain and sciatica, Spinal Decompression may be the treatment for you. It not only significantly reduces back pain in many patients but also enables the majority of our patients to return to a more active lifestyle.

Spinal Decompression treatment is $85 per session. Please contact our office for a complimentary health evaluation to determine if you’re a candidate.

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger points, or tiny knots in the myofascial tissue covering your muscles, can cause a large amount of pain. However, when we locate and treat trigger points, we can often alleviate muscle pain.

Trigger point injections are used in several ways to help reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and allow your body to more easily partake in therapy. The injections needed for each person may vary on the injury being treated and the severity of the injury. Trigger points can develop from an injury or a series of injuries that cause repeated trauma to a specific area. They can also develop over time from lack of exercise, inactivity, bad posture and even nutritional deficiencies.

Trigger point injections are used to decrease the spasms that happen within the muscle that have been strained or contracted for an extended period of time. When scar tissue forms it will require decreasing the amount of inflammation, stretching and strengthening to help heal the muscle.

Trigger point injections offer a safe alternative for immediate pain relief:

  • Muscle relaxers only provide a temporary solution. Trigger point injections, a safer alternative without nasty side effects, address the cause of your pain so we can relieve it permanently.
  • You experience less discomfort and a greater range of motion.
  • The injection zeroes in on your injury, release tension and provides immediate relief. Nearby muscle tissue unwinds so the region slowly loosens and strengthens.

Sports Injuries

Sports injury, in the broadest sense, refers to the kinds of injuries that most commonly occur during sports or exercise. Some sports injuries result from accidents; others are due to poor training practices, improper equipment, lack of conditioning, or insufficient warm-up and stretching. Sports injuries are of 2 types i.e. chronic and acute injuries.

Acute injury

An Acute Injury is an injury that occur suddenly, for example, a bad landing that causes a sprained ankle. Strained backs, and fractured hands are also types of Acute Injuries.

Symptoms include: swelling, severe pain, extreme weakness, visibly displaced joint or bone, inability in normal joint movement, tenderness.

Chronic injury

A Chronic Injury is due to the repeated overuse of joints and/or muscle groups. For example, structural abnormalities and poor techniques can develop chronic injuries.

Symptoms include: Swelling, pain while playing or exercising, dull ache in the rest position.

Supartz

Knee pain is a debilitating condition that can deteriorate the protective fluid surrounding the knee joints. This can lead to more serious conditions including osteoarthritis. Increased activity levels can continue to reduce the joints’ protective cartilage and fluid, and osteoarthritis only speeds up the degeneration that occurs naturally over time.

Symptoms stemming from knee pain or osteoarthritis include:

  • Aching
  • Chronic Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Muscle weakness
  • Inflammation
  • Reduced mobility

While surgery is generally an option for people experiencing debilitating knee pain or osteoarthritis, many people prefer treatments other than surgery for the following reasons:

  • Surgery leads to a long rehabilitation time
  • Surgery is not guaranteed to fix the issue permanently
  • Out-of-pocket cost
  • Risks involved with surgery

For patients not wanting to take part in knee surgery, Gateway Rehab offers a non-surgical treatment option that can eliminate knee pain. This treatment is called Supartz Joint Therapy. This treatment injects the protective fluids into the joint or bone and helps to alleviate the painful symptoms and return normal functionality.

About Supartz Knee Therapy

The Supartz Knee Therapy is a safe alternative to knee surgery. The injections contain a fluid that is naturally occurring in the protective fluid of the joints and bones—purified sodium hyaluronate. Supartz injections have been the turning point in overcoming knee pain for many people, helping them to get back to a healthy lifestyle!

Massage Therapy Services

Swedish Massage Therapy

This is the most common type of massage therapy in the United States. Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. If you’ve never had a massage before, this is a good one to try first.

Hot Stone Massage

Heated, smooth stones are placed on certain points on the body to warm and loosen tight muscles and balance energy centers in the body. The massage therapist may also hold stones and apply gentle pressure with them. The warmth is comforting. Hot stone massage is good for people who have muscle tension but prefer lighter massage.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.

Pregnancy Massage

Also called prenatal massage, pregnancy massage is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers. Massage therapists who perform pregnancy massage know the proper way to position and support the woman’s body during the massage, and how to modify techniques. Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. The massage is customized to a woman’s individual needs.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don’t have to be a professional athlete to have one; people who are active and work out often also use it. The focus isn’t on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. Combinations of techniques are used. The strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage. Facilitated stretching is a common technique. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.
